| Comment | Purchased this sealed in 2024 on Amazon. Shipped and sold by Amazon. Nowhere does this state this is a remaster. Both were mastered by Brian Gardner. The packaging is pretty similar, excluding the clear tray with the tray art being printed black instead of just using a black tray and a parental advisory sticker being on the left side of the cover, rather than a "these songs contain explicit lyrics" marker on the right. You wouldn't be mistaken for thinking this was a reissue of the original master except for the little "copyright 2015" on the back insert. When volume normalized, the waveforms look about the same, except for the 2015 having all the peaks shaved to a uniform level. The 2015 sounds more upfront, but i don't feel it to be fatiguing. It's a perfectly fine disc. I did buy this by mistake as it wasn't labeled as a remaster, but if you want a new copy of this i don't think you'd regret it. Remasters of this album kinda flood the discogs marketplace and original masters look to be sold in "well-loved ;-)" condition like many other late 80s pre-owned hip-hop discs. Doesn't look to be impossible to grab in nice condition though. |
