| Comment | I was disappointed when I noticed that the version of "The King's Return" that I already had from the "A New Era" EP sounded superior. The drums in particular are more lively and sound more like real instruments. On this release, the drums are more like a mild flavoring with no real character. They have about as much effect as if you were to just describe the sound to me instead of actually letting me hear it—and this album isn't even compressed all that badly! It might be an EQ issue too, but the difference between this version and the EP is about four points: The EP's "The King's Return"'s version has a score of 10, while this one has a score of 6. . . and despite the higher quality mastering, it still shows. Major disappointment when you discover that a band who has a strong musical and storytelling vision has been compromised by such a brutish "loudness" farce. |
