Comment | Downloaded at Brutality's own Bandcamp: http://brutality2.bandcamp.com. Please note that though the FLAC files came directly from Bandcamp, they do not seem to be a true representation of the original source - the audio suffers from MP3 artifacts; most obvious is the muffled sound due to a lowpass at about 16kHz. Just watch the files' spectrograms in the audio suite of your choice. Such a lowpass may correspond to a 100-150kbps MP3 (check this table at the Hydrogenaudio Knowledgebase: http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=LAME#Technical_information). Low bitrates like this are not transparent, i.e. one can significantly distinguish them from the source because of audible compression artifacts. In other words: These FLAC files do not seem to contain CD-Quality audio and seem to stem from a low-bitrate MP3 or similar version of the EP. Which is sad :( Comment: I'm not sure the FLAC-files are MP3-sourced (anymore, at least). I checked the frequency spectrum, and there was data all up to 21–22 kHz. In the MP3 320 version, there was a definite cutoff frequency at about 20 kHz, which is needed. There is a clear difference between the frequency spectra between mp3 320 and FLAC. |
